rdda_hm09-2 Hatteland Display is proud to announce that its HT C01 computer has received a Red Dot Award and an 'honourable mention' distinction in the Red Dot Awards: Product Design 2009. These highly regarded annual awards are given to products from all industry sectors that meet high levels of design excellence, as determined by an expert panel of judges made up of design professionals.

This is the second Red Dot Award for Hatteland Display, having won in 2007 for the new Series 2 display family. The 2009 awards were entered by around 1400 companies with 3231 products, making competition for the awards very tough.

trond_k._johannessen "We're delighted to have received a Red Dot Award again as it recognises the investment that we put in to ensuring strong, high quality product design values across our entire portfolio," says newly appointed President of Hatteland Display, Trond K. Johannessen. "The HT C01 standalone computer will be available this summer and we are very positive about its reception in the market, especially following its recognition by the Red Dot design organisation."

The HT C01 is based on the latest available computer technology, but due to Hatteland Display's efficient production methods and design for mass production, it is low in cost compared to similar marine computers on the market. Inside the sleek new design of the outer casing is a computer designed specifically for the marine environment. The HT C01 is a powerful workhorse designed specifically for the marine and naval environment, with excellent resistance to overheating and vibration. It has passed the vibration test for Type Approvals at DNV and the components are stable and secure, which extends the lifetime and improves reliability in tough conditions.

In order to avoid problems of overheating, the HT C01 designers have ensured exceptional ventilation flow, which allows for 24/7 operation in the -15C to +55C temperature range. Another consideration is the often tight working space on a vessel, so Hatteland Display has ensured that the HT C01 offers easy access and maintenance. The computer components are reachable by unscrewing three finger screws to remove the cover (no tools needed) and many of its components are easily replaceable.
