Windows® 2000 retirement

Due to the retirement of the Windows® 2000 operating system, Hatteland Display would like to inform you about changes for our maritime computer products with pre-installed Windows® 2000 operating system (OS).

Windows® 2000 CD's won't be available any longer.


KEYPOINTS TO NOTICE:

BEFORE:
Windows® 2000 OS was installed when ordered. Hatteland Display products carried a Windows® 2000 CD key (License sticker). Hatteland Display supplied a Windows® 2000 CD. The customer / end user had to type in the key, company settings etc to finalize installation.

NOW:
If customers order a Windows® 2000 Operating system, it will be downgraded from Windows XP. Hatteland Display products with this configuration will carry a Windows® XP CD key (License sticker). Hatteland Display uses a open source license for Windows® 2000. Hatteland Display will make a complete installation of Windows® 2000.

NOTE:
If customers wish to do a re-installation of Windows® 2000 after delivery, they either need an open source license themselves, or use a Windows® 2000 CD they still were able to obtain.

EFFECTIVE:
This change is implemented with immediate effect.

RECOMMENDATION:
We recommend our customers to change to Windows XP Operating System.

OPEN SOURCE LICENSE:
In order to still install Windows® 2000, Hatteland Display uses a single open source license for all Windows® 2000 installations. This enable us to ship out products without running the system preperation tool. Customers don't need to enter the license key to finalize the installation as previously required.
