We have identified 3 failure symptoms that apply for the Series 2 Displays (MMD) and Panel Computers (MMC) products with factory mounted touch screen.

DESCRIPTION / SYMPTOM(S) #1:
There is no response from the touch screen, but connecting a regular mouse to the computer will work as expected. If the USB cable is disconnected and reconnected the touch screen will work as expected again.
CAUSE:
The touch controller is sensitive to irregularities in the USB signal which is caused by long, thin, poorly shielded USB cables and/or unpowered USB hubs and repeaters.
SOLUTION:
Use short, thick, well-shielded USB cables and powered USB hubs and repeaters.
DESCRIPTION / SYMPTOM(S) #2:
There is no response from the touch screen, and regular mouse is working unsatisfactory. The touch screen recovers after being placed in a dry environment for some days.
CAUSE:
There is an air-gap in this type of display that can be filled with water if the seal is broken. This will cause the touch screen to malfunction.
SOLUTION:
The touch screen glass has to be replaced at one of our service locations.
DESCRIPTION / SYMPTOM(S) #3:
The touch screen the pointer is always moving to a small area of the screen.
CAUSE:
Extreme exposure to damp heat or humidity may cause buckling of the touch foils making a permanent touch register in a small area of the screen
SOLUTION:
The touch screen glass has to be replaced at one of our service locations.
